JAM: Palm Sunday – Exploring Holy Week 29th March 2026

Palm Sunday – Exploring Holy Week

We had a fantastic time exploring Holy Week together on Palm Sunday at JAM. The children met in the Hub while the Norwich Area Mission Partnership gathered for a joint Palm Sunday service at Ipswich Road.

Through acting, visualising, and creating, the children were able to step into the events from Palm Sunday up to Good Friday.

We began using the “Whoosh Bible,” where the children enthusiastically acted out key moments from the story. Their energy and creativity really brought the scenes to life.

We then moved to another room, set up as the “Upper Room,” where a feast had been prepared. Here, we reenacted the Last Supper, breaking bread and sharing grape juice together. As we ate, the children watched a video showing the events from Palm Sunday through to the crucifixion.

Afterwards, the children used Lego to build their own scenes from Holy Week, including the triumphal entry, the cleansing of the temple, the Last Supper, the Garden of Gethsemane, and the crucifixion. It was wonderful to see their understanding deepen as they expressed the story through their creations.

It was a truly special morning, and it was encouraging to see the children so engaged, thoughtful, and eager to explore the meaning of Easter together.

JAM is a friendly group where children explore faith through stories, games, music, prayer and creative activities – new children are always very welcome.
