After a long break, we managed to have a session with 12 out of 13 children attending and it
was lovely to be back together.
We caught up on the story between Easter and Pentecost, with the main focus being on the
message to the disciples that, although Jesus was leaving them physically, the helper would
come (the Holy Spirit) who would be with them always. We emphasised again that Jesus
said “do not be afraid, for I am with you” (“do not be afraid” is repeated 365 times in The
Bible).
We then continued to Pentecost and the coming of the Holy Spirit for the disciples and how
it changed and encouraged them and helped them take the Good News to others, which
was the birth of the Christian Church.
The children carefully cut flame shaped pieces of cheese on bread slices, which were then
toasted by Linda to for flaming cheese on toast.
We watched an excerpt from Superbook covering the events of Pentecost
We listened to “Be Still” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7pJb49vVQY and we prayed
using bubbles, imagining our breath as the Holy Spirit, blowing and changing situations that
we were concerned about, worried or afraid of and, also people we were concerned about,
needing God’s presence
We made hovercraft CD’s, coloured drinks mats (as shown below) with the message “I will
ask the Father to send you the Holy Spirit who will help you and always be with you.“ (John
14:16) on the back
Our next session is on July 24th which will be the last before the Summer holiday any
children you know, are welcome to join us.
