Jammy News – 4th September 2022

We had our first session back after the summer break on Sunday 4* September. It was
lovely to see the children again and hear about their summer holidays.

They made a Jam sandwich for their snack and then we settled down to continue with
stories of Peter and those first followers from the book of Acts, in the New Testament.

Peter had been filled with God’s spirit, he had so much courage and power; courage to tell others about God’s love and about Jesus. He had God’s power, so that when Peter prayed,
some amazing things happen, he was able to heal others too – in the name of Jesus.

We looked at the stories of Aeneas and Tabitha. Aeneas had been bed-ridden for 8 years
and we heard how Peter healed him. We then followed the story of Tabitha, she had died.

She was a well-loved women in the community and many people had become believers because of how she lived her life; she was kind, and cared about others – she made clothes
for those who needed them.

Peter prayed and brought her back to life. We concentrated our session on Tabitha’s dedication to others and the importance of prayer as Christians, as the most powerful way we can help others.

We sung “Faith as Small as a Mustard Seed”

We then prayed together, for others first, for healing, by writing on plasters and sticking them on our board.
And we prayed for ourselves, as the children thought about the things that concerned them, like returning to school.

We used post-it tabs for each concern and stuck them on our board. We brought all these people and issues to God in prayer.

The children ate a white chocolate heart as they were reminded of God’s love and care for each of them, thanking Him that he hears us and acts.

We then wrote our names on luggage labels, these were then randomly selected out of a bag by each child with instructions to pray for the person on the label, in the weeks to come.

Each of us spent time talking to the person who’s tag we had picked, to help us to know
what their concerns were.

We ended with a game called “sewing” which generally involved running around in circles!
